I would bet that over half of "Independents" are Republicans who for whatever reason won't admit it, even to an anonymous poll or perhaps themselves. There are of course Independents that are really Democrats, but not as nearly as many. The smallest group of Independents are probably actual Independents.

I know the other reason Republicans stay competetive is that the vast amount of people who don't vote come from the Lowest and Second Tiers.; September 18, 2012 at 11:32 AM
